Education

EducationFor a child in Kenya, especially in the rural areas such as Trans Mara, a good education is crucial to a hope-filled future.  Because most people in these areas have limited education, they must depend solely on the success of their crops for survival.  They are trapped in a cycle of poverty.

Schools in Kenya are different than in America.  In order to attend school, the family must pay for tuition, uniforms, and supplies.  Most families in this region are unable to afford that much money.  When a child is given the chance for an education, he is being given so much more than just knowledge.  He is being given the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and impact his community in profound ways.

The boys and girls at Hill Springs Academy know that they must study and work hard on their education so they can have a better life.  Before a child can attend High School in Kenya, they must pass a National Exam and then be accepted at a school.  These kids want to attend good High Schools because they know that their future depends on their education.  They are motivated to learn!
